Our Elders

     Charles was born in Longview, Texas and lived in Arlington and Beaumont until completing high school. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona and attended Arizona State University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree, a Masters Degree, and has done advanced work toward a Ph.D. degree. Charles taught school in California and Arizona. He was a math teacher, a coach, an Assistant Principal, a Principal and an Assistant Superintendent. Charles has been actively involved in the Lord’s work teaching and being involved in many ministries of the church. He has been part of the West Olive congregation since March of 1999. Charles has served as a Deacon and an Elder. He became a part of the West Olive Eldership in May of 2001.

Bob Milstead

     Bob was born and grew up in Dallas , Texas. Bob and Anne his wife were married in 1974 in Abilene , Texas where they both graduated from Abilene Christian University . They have three children- Jim , Virginia and Rob. All are faithful Christians and active in the Lord’s work. Bob is the Retail Store Operations Coordinator for Ashworth Golf. He previously spent twenty years as a Kmart manager. He also was the Director of retail operations for Ben Franklin Crafts, managed a Toys R Us and a TJ Maxx. He and Anne lived in Texas , New Mexico and California , before moving to Arizona .  Bob also served as a Deacon in the Ridgecrest , CA. Church of Christ. Bob has served as an Elder at West Olive since 2000.

Bob Montgomery

        Bob was born in Oklahoma. Bob’s home town was Tulsa.  After a tour of duty with the Army Air Force (B-17s and B-24s) in Europe during World War II, Bob graduated from Oklahoma State University with degrees in Industrial Engineering and Industrial Management. He later did some graduate work at Kent Sate University in Ohio. Bob and his wife Jean were married in 1952 and have two children; a son and daughter who are faithful Christians and six grandchildren.   Bob worked for BF Goodrich for 31 years at Miami, OK, Los Angeles, CA and Cleveland, Ohio; as Personnel Manager in Akron and Los Angeles and Manager of Industrial Relations for the Chemical division of Goodrich in Cleveland prior to retiring early to serve at Abilene Christian University. He served Abilene Christian as Asst. Vice President/Finance and Personnel Director for five years prior to retiring again to move to Sun City West. He also taught a few Personnel Management courses at Dyess Air Force Base to pilots working on MBA degrees at ACU.  Bob and Jean have always been active in the Lord’s work in several capacities; Bob having served, with the continual help, support and encouragement of Jean, as Deacon in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and La Habra, CA and as elder at La Habra and Cleveland, Ohio. They have been a part of the West Olive Church since August of 1986. Bob has served as one of the West Olive elders since June of 1988.

      Gene was born in Virginia and Joan his wife in Tennessee. Gene grew up in Virginia and Tennessee while Joan grew up in California. The met while attending David Lipscomp College in Nashville where Gene graduated in 1955 with a degree in Business Administration.  Gene began his sales career in Nashville and eventually worked territories in Louisville, Ky., Evansville, Ind. And Grand Rapids, Mich. In 1975 Gene started a Building Material Wholesale business in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor and Detroit Michigan. Gene and Joan retired in December 1996 and moved to Sun City West.  While in Michigan, Gene served 24 years as an elder of the Southside congregation. He became an elder at West Olive in March of 2000.  Gene and Joan have three boys and five grandchildren.  The Mullins hope you will enjoy worshiping at the West Olive congregation as much as they do May God bless us all as we do our best to serve Him.
