Who Is The Holy Spirit?

 

You can easily understand the identity of someone by discovering why they do what they do. If you knew my motives for being a husband, you would know truly what kind of husband I was. If you knew my real reasons why I discipline & train my children, you would know what type of father I was. So let us consider what the Bible says about the purpose of the Holy Spirit’s work. His purpose is in…

1. Sealing us, as a guarantee or deposit for our salvation through our trusting obedience to

      His word,  see Ac. 2:38-39,  2Cor. 1:22. Eph. 1:13-14.

2. . Saving us by His washing & regenerating renewal, Titus 3:5, John 3:3-5, 1st Pet. 1:2,

      Heb. 12:24.

3. Writing upon our heart the law of God, see Jer. 31:31-33, Jn. 15:26, written testimony

 of Jesus, the word (Logos) and law of God, via the apostles and into our heart.

4. Offering and dispensing loving control over us as an adopted child-servant,

see Rom. 8:9-17, 1st Cor. 14:32.  That is, teaching us with the Bible as He wants, in cooperation with our spirit,  see Rom. 8:14, 1st Cor. 12:11. This is described by John as the “anointing”, 1st Jn. 2:20-27.

5. Feeding us with righteousness, joy & peace, like as if He feeds & waters us to grow

 His fruit,  see 1st Cor.12:13, Eph. 5:8,  Gal. 5:22-23.

6.  Interceding in our prayers when we are unsure about what to pray for or how to pray,

Rom. 8:26-28.

7. Convicting the world of sin, righteousness and judgement through our combined use of

His Sword, Jn. 16:7-11, Eph. 6:17.

8. Comforting us with His Presence, see Jn. 14:16.
