God The Father is Love The reason
humanity finds love so peculiar and powerful is because God is! Love is
not the side-effect of hormones in youth, nor is it just the devoted decision
of dutybound spouses. God is love, 1st John 4:8-16. His love is spread today throughout the world by the Holy Spirit in
our hearts, Romans 5:5. The Father’s love can be seen in two ways: 1.
Practical in Charity, Dt. 10:18. 2. Immeasurable in Christ, Rom. 8:35-39. God Loves… A
cheerful giver, 2nd Cor. 9:7 The
church, Eph. 2:4 & 5:29 The son or daughter
He chastises, Heb. 12:6 & 1st Jon. 3:1 The
Christ, Jon. 15:9 & 17:26. Humanity,
Jn. 3:16. Rom. 5:8. Perhaps the most peculiar aspect of love is
that it motivates us to express jealousy, therefore God is a jealous God (Ex.
20:5-6) and He hates… - Whatever the world highly esteems, Lk. 16:15 - Idolatry, witchcraft, meditations to other
gods, Dt. 18:9-11. - Deceitful weights and measures, Dt.
25:14-16. - The seven abominations, arrogance, lies,
murder, deceitful heart, violence, false accusations, dividers of
brethren.. Prv. 6:16-19. - He that turns away his ear from hearing the
law, even his prayer is an abomination. Prv. 28:9. - Homosexuality, 1st Kings 14:24, Romans 1:26
& 27. They who have a perverted
heart are an abomination to the LORD, Prv. 11:20 - Divorce! Malachi 2:16. “Do not sit trying to manufacture feelings.
Ask yourself, ‘if I were sure that I loved God, what would I do?’ When you
have found the answer, go do it…Christian love…is an affair of the will. If
we are trying to do His will we are obeying the commandment, ‘Thou shalt love
the Lord thy God’, He will give us feelings of love if He pleases. We cannot create them for ourselves and we
must not demand them as a right. But the great thing to remember is that,
though our feelings come and go, His love for us does not…at whatever cost to
us, at whatever cost to Him” – (‘Mere Christianity’ by C.S. Lewis) Prayer Pointer for this week: Do we pray that
The Father’s love is with us and active? 2nd Cor. 13:13, As Paul prayed, we
should follow, 1st Cor. 11:1. This the
whole aim of discipleship. |
